What are your funniest (and saddest!) stories and how have they shaped you into the FP practitioner you are today? Join us for an open mic session — share your experiences and pick up those pearls of wisdom as your listen to your colleagues share theirs. They say that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and you get plenty of opportunities like that running a financial planning practice! Whether it is the client story no one will ever believe or the antics of your poster-child-from-hell former employee, we all have had these experiences what would you like to share about what you learned?

Thursday December 2, 2021 @ 2:30PM AEDT
Damian Seaton: Managing Director of Cyber Audit Team & Executive Committee member of the Australian Information Security Association (AISA)

My client has been hacked. I think it may be my fault.

According to the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), during the 2020-21 financial year, cyber-attacks on Australian businesses resulted in a data breach being reported every 8 minutes, resulting in over $33b in self-reported losses. Financial planners are a lucrative target for criminals, particularly when planners operate their businesses from home, without the usual corporate security and other business infrastructure.

ASIC have taken a much stronger stance against Directors’ and Officers’ within the financial sector, and are actively pursuing AFSL holders, Authorised Representatives, and Financial Planners who fail to implement adequate systems, resources and policies, which were reasonably required to manage cybersecurity risk and enhance cyber resilience.

Join us and discover what you can do to protect your clients, your liability and reputation, as well as your livelihood.

Monday December 6, 2021 @ 12:00pm AEDT
Keith Salmon: Executive Coach & Marketing Strategist, On-camera director, coach & story consultant of Quantum Client Attraction and Keith Salmon Coaching.

How to tell your story and win clients for life

There’s an old saying: your experience is someone else’s antidote. The story of how you came to be where you are today has enormous power both for you and for your clients. When you properly capture the passion of your story you earn the right to apply its lessons for the benefit of your clients. Learn how to unlock that magic because its the key to being paid just for being who you are today. Join this session and discover the art of telling your own story, of translating your own hero’s journey succinctly and compellingly in an increasingly noisy market place.

Wednesday December 8, 2021 @ 2:30PM AEDT
Dr. Paul Moran: Behavioural Finance Expert and CEO of IFactFind

Who’s the expert in the room anyway

FASEA has set new baseline standards ethical conduct and education for the industry. FASEA is about to be disbanded, though, and replaced by another regulator who should be setting the standards the legislators or us, the members of this profession? As a profession we expect more than just meeting the minimum legal standards, were about setting standards that are aspirational, for all members of industry to follow. Join this session and have your say about defining best practice as experts, rather than leaving it to the bureaucrats.
